Top 5 iOS 13 Features
iOS 13 is the thirteenth major update to Apple’s mobile operating system. It was released on September 19, 2019 after being launched in the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 3, 2019. The speciality in this OS update is that it brings as separate versions for iPads and iPhone/ iPod Touch. For iPads, there is a separate OS called iPadOS that begins from iPadOS 13. And the iOS continues with the iOS 13 update for iPhones and iPod touches.
This latest iOS/ iPadOS brings amazing new features to the update. Here we have collected the top 5 iOS 13 features that are popular among iDevice users.
01. Dark Mode
The most notable and largely marketed features of iOS 13 update is the new system-wide Dark Mode. All elements including buttons on your iDevice would normally be bright or white, but thanks to this Dark Mode, you can now turn them to Dark or Black.
Some people absolutely love the dark modes, which are available in other operating systems such as Android and MacOS. The reason for that is the dark mode is easier for users’ eyes, and many people say it also saves the battery life as the device display does not need to shoot light through its cells to light up elements as it does with lighter themes.
To toggle on the dark mode on your iOS 13 device, you can simply visit Settings > Display and Brightness > Appearance > Dark.
02. New Location Privacy Protection
Bluetooth permissions setting is one of the largest new privacy features in iOS 13. With this feature, you can block apps from accessing your Bluetooth connection. If you were wondering why you need this feature, it is because apps don’t only use Bluetooth to connect with wireless accessories like headphones. Bluetooth can be used with any app to track your locations as you move around every day. And now Apple has added a feature to iOS 13 to shut that down.
iOS 13 will send you notifications when a particular app has been tracking the location of you in the background. It includes a map showing you the locations where the applications have been tracking your movements. Then you can decide whether to permit the app to go on with tracking your movements or not.
03. Apple Maps is a True Google Maps Competitor Now
Apple Maps had been clearly lower in average level when compared with Google Maps for years. But Apple has fixed it in iOS 13. Apple Maps gets a big repair thanks to new structural and vegetation data that exceeds even that of Google Maps. The Maps in iOS 13 gains its own Street View-like feature called “Look Around” that makes Google Maps look very old.
04. Siri Finds a New Voice
Similar to Maps, Siri does not have the best track record of being an exceptional feature on iOS. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant usually perform better in many tasks. But Apple is making big steps with Siri in iOS 13. The best improvement in Siri is its new voice, which is now 100% computer-generated instead of using audio clips that were recorded before.
05. Reminders are More Powerful in iOS 13
Reminders is the in-built app that got the best improvements in iOS 13. It has been a main app on iOS for years but has not seen many enhancements since its launch. But thanks to the iOS 13 update, now it has got a complete revamp with an all-new interface. The quick toolbar is the best feature that has been added to the Reminders app, and it makes it easy to add dates, locations, times, flags, and even attachments to users’ reminders.
