Top 5 iOS 12 Features
iOS 12 is the twelfth major version of Apple’s mobile operating system, which was released on September 17, 2018 after being launched in the WWDC. Apple released many new features and improvements with this major iOS update. In this article, we have collected the top 5 iOS 12 features that are famous among iDevice users.
01. Set App Limits
To use this feature, open ‘Screen Time’ in settings. When it is active, this will log your game or app usage. Under ‘Always Allowed’, settle apps that you don’t want to be limited and keep these to a minimum.
Tap ‘Add Limit’ under ‘App Limits’, and select an app category then ‘Add’. State a daily limit and click ‘Set’. As an alternative, tap the graph at the ‘Screen Time’ page’s top and select an individual app/ game, and then add the limit there.
When the limit is reached, applicable app icons become less bright and get a timer next to their names. A ‘Time Limit’ warning will be shown after launching one. Tap ‘Ignore Limit’ to override the limit for 15 minutes or rest of the day.
02. Create a Memoji
To make use of this wonderful feature, tap the Animoji button from the apps drawer in Messages. Then tap on the ‘+’ so that you will see a bald yellow Memoji that allows you to animate by gurning like a champ to the FaceTime camera.
Tap a color swatch below the Memoji to alter the skin color and choose freckle coverage from the options available. Then you must drag ‘Skin’ to the left side to see categories for all the things from your eyes and head shape to head wear and facial hair. When you are happy, you can tap ‘Done’.
The Memoji you created now joins the existing selection, you can also save several. If you want to edit, delete, or duplicate the created Memoji, simply select it, tap, and select the relevant option.
03. Silence your Device
iOS 11 settings had a feature called ‘Do Not Disturb’, and it was expanded with the option to trigger the feature automatically when driving. However, the Do Not Disturb button of the Control Center remained a blunt instrument.
3D Touch/tap-hold is now available in various options. You are able to trigger Do Not Disturb temporarily for an hour, until the day’s next major part, until the end of the current Calendar event or until you leave your current location.
If you are being bugged by noisy notifications more routinely, the iOS 12 update offers you tools there too. 3D Touch/tap-hold the wrongdoer, tap, and then select ‘Delivery Quietly’, or ‘Turn Off’ to impair notifications of that app or game entirely.
04. Add a Siri Shortcut
Siri is still dumb as a post by default. However, in the iOS 12 new update is a little bit smart about celebrities and food. However, thanks to Siri shortcuts, users are able to record phrases to trigger custom action.
Go to ‘Siri and Search’ from settings and then ‘All Shortcuts’. Scroll it to the Safari’s section and tap on the ‘+’ that is next to the Stuff link. You will then see the ‘Add to Siri’ option on the screen. Tap on the record button and say ‘Visit Stuff; and then tap ‘Done’.
05. Audit your Passwords
iOS 12 update is cleverer about passwords. Rather than just Safari, the keychain works with apps. In the ‘Passwords and Accounts’ of settings, users are able to opt to autofill passwords from managers of third-party passwords. You can also ask for Siri to view a specific password.
